When Free Will Gets in Your Way

Many people believe that if it feels right inwardly then you are on the right track.  I understand that perspective but sometimes we can be fooled by our personality/ego into continuing to act out ingrained patterns and by so doing we will actually sabotage efforts by the conscious mind to create change in our lives and expand our awareness.  Ingrained patterns can feel like you are going with the flow because they are comfortable, they are known territory or chartered waters.

So how can you tell if you are going with the flow or just continuing to stick with a feel good pattern, well you have to look beyond the surface feeling.  Let me give you an example; you may have decided to stop eating chocolate but you really feel like you want some…so when that happens ask yourself does your body feel like it wants some or is it just your taste buds.  Sit with the wanting chocolate for a while and it will go away.  Similarly with ingrained patterns look inside for how all of you feels about the pattern and you will find that on a deeper level it doesn’t feel good at all.  So use the power of your free will and change direction for even greater freedom!!

Great post about focusing and self observation. Change can only come about from practising, that which we learn about ourselves, from the more real self.

Thank you for sharing a timely reminder.
